I re-watched the 50th special tonight. While watching it again, something dawned on me. When the Doctor says, "I'm going to be king." is that true? I was under the impression that if a man married the Queen of England his title would be "Prince Consort", not "King".
A petition to name a recently discovered planet Gallifrey has received more than 113,000 supporters.
The planet, known as HD 106906 b, was discovered earlier this year by a team working at the University of Arizona. The planet is a gas giant that is estimated to be approximately eleven times the mass of Jupiter and orbits its star at a distance of nearly sixty billion miles, or about 650 times the distance between Earth and the Sun.
A petition has been started by Australian Sam Menhennet to ask the International Astronomical Union to rename the planet Gallifrey, in honour of Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary.
I read today that Hollywood is going to make a new Gilligan’s Island movie. Really? Have studio execs never set foot in a library? The best source material out there has already been written; they’re called “books”! And yet, time after time, Hollywood insists on trying to resurrect old television shows. The only show that needs to keep coming back is Doctor Who - that’s part of its charm.
Hmmm…. that gives me an idea.
Forget Gilligan Let’s make this Gillan’s Island. Rather than the Professor, this version can have the Doctor. Paul McGann will do just fine. For our Mary Ann we’ll need a doe-eyed brunette. Jenna is a shoo-in. Christopher Eccleston is Gilligan, he just is. Karen is Ginger (duh). Plus, we really can’t have a Gillan’s Island without her. Sylvester McCoy has similar eyebrows to Thurston Howell III, and the hair on his head is very reminiscent of a style popular amongst the blokes whose mugshots grace several U.S. currency notes. To top it all off, he even has a hat. Eunice (a.k.a. “Lovey”) Howell will be played by the one and only John Barrowman. Russell Tovey, who played Midshipman Alonso Frame will be the Skipper. Granted, he’s a bit young and might have to don a fat suit, but he’s already got the Skipper’s hat and as it is, this project is running way over budget.
I'm going to miss Matt Smith. Which is odd, because he bugged the hell out of me in the beginning.
I felt the same way. Didn't dislike him, but wasn't exactly looking forward to 3+ years of him as The Doctor. Now, I wish we were getting another year or even two with him. It feels abrupt to lose him now. As much as I liked Tennant, I was ready for him to go when the time came.

In fairness, the first Doctor did say, "One day I shall come back."
And so he did.
