She's got to be popping up soon though, right? Why else announce her casting...unless it was to stay in the hero race since DC had Diana cast.

Yep, @bralinator and @Matt , looks like someone took Marvel's relunctance/disinterest in doing a Black Widow solo movie and ran away with it.

I wonder if that was the initial pitch:

"I've got this idea for a movie that's basically the Black Widow, but we'll use a sparrow instead. Marvel isn't doing anything solo with the character, so we can fool people."
