Oh my. I just read a spoiler and I wish I hadn't... it started out innocently enough, but now I cannot "unsee" what I've read.
James Gunn has promised that the movie would contain more Marvel Comics characters than have ever been featured in one feature before. Of course, not all of the characters will be instantly recognizable... but one character in particular...
WARNING: If you consider cameos as spoilers, then you are going to want to stay clear of the rest of this article.
Fact is, now I just want to see this film even more.
There is apparently a sneak showing at a theater near here tomorrow night; my friend has scored tickets for it and he and I are going to check it out. In 3-D, no less!! Huzzah!

That particular cameo really does absolutely nothing for me.
Wait a second... Isn't there a spoiler out there between Mr. Fillion and the GotG film that would therefore nullify Mr. Fillion's statement? I mean, it wouldn't make it untrue, but it does seem a little suspect.

Oh geez guys, sorry. I thought the rumors were even discussed in this thread. Spoilers or not I'm not sure why it would be a spoiler if someone was named as a character in a film. I mean, you guys know Chris Pratt is Peter Quill, Star Lord, right? Oops. Never mind. You didn't read that.

It's the character's possible inclusion that's the spoiler. But the particular rumor we're talking about has been denied by all relavant parties... Not that that definitely means it's not happening.

But let the record show that I never said the name of the character. And full disclosure, I don't remember who it is anyway. So y'all are gittin yet panties in twist fer nuthin! :P

BTW - I really want to see this film!
Also extremely excited for this one. And it was your comment in conjunction with the following comment by Rebis that created the "not exactly a spoiler more of a rumor"
Just got back from the theater. Turns out it was an advance screening primarily for the reviewers, but they handed out enough free passes to fill out the theater. And it was a 'first come first seated' situation -- if you got there after the theater was filled, you didn't get in.
We got there early.
Was it worth it?
Absolutely. It's a winner. Marvel knocks it out of the ballpark again. There was only one disappointment so far as I was concerned, but it was a really minor one (and I won't mention it until after the general release) that doesn't hurt the rest of the film at all. But, yeah, if I'd paid thirty or forty bucks to get in, it would have been worth every penny. Seeing it for free made it all the sweeter.

I'll only offer up one spoiler:
Rocket absolutely steals the show.
