I don't know. the 15 or so seconds reminds me of a web cartoon.
There is a sudden drop in quality during the Star-lord/rocket interaction. Even the model for Rocket looks different. I'd guess they decided the test needed something extra at the end
There are three characters that got cut out [of the "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" montage]: Nebula, the Collector and Grandpa Quill. Nebula and Collector we decided, at a certain point, they’re kind of bad guys in the first movie. It was a real joyous experience with that finale so we thought we’d keep it to the characters that were part of “the good team.” Which includes Yondu. He did fight on the good guys side. So we thought we would keep it to them.
Grandpa Quill we cut because he was in old age make up and we were a little afraid people wouldn’t recognize that it was him from the beginning of the movie. And also, it was a pretty sad moment. It was Grandpa Quill and he has this photograph of Meredith and Peter as a little boy and he looks up at the stars and we go up to the stars and it was really sweet. It means that he must have seen Quill getting abducted at the end of that day and is still waiting for him to return but it was freaking sad so we took it out.
Nebula’s was actually my favorite. Nebula’s I really liked a lot because she’s lost her arm and she’s just pissed off and she’s just walking through this field all pissed off with a busted Ravager vehicle behind her. And she’s just pissed off and I loved it.
A GOTG animated series could be terrific or it could be horrible. I loved the Avengers animated series, but am greatly disappointed in Avengers Assemble. I also caught an episode of the new muti-colored Hulk: Agents Of SMASH, which is really, really terrible. Seems that, like Cartoon Network, Disney doesn't want any show to be aimed at anyone higher than eight yrs old, or else who would buy those toys?
Yeah marvels current animation offerings are sad. Theyve set their standards pretty low. Ultimate Spider-Man was kindle cute and fun but nothing to sink your teeth into. Avengers assemble is watchable but unfulfilling and forgettable. Cannot believe they abandoned avengers: EMH for it. EMH was the closest marvel ever came to making anything nearly as good as the DCAU. it copied the mcu, appealed to all ages and had unlimited potential. Instead of raising spidey up, they dumbed avengers down. Hulk: aos just boggles my mind. Who thought of this and how'd it get green lit? They've managed to make some watchable eps but its just dumb. While I'm excited for a gotg toon, I'm not very hopeful. Marvel animation have proclaimed their projects are for a very specific "young boys action demo" and will have a heavy "emphasis on humor".

Never underestimate the power of these 'toons. I can barely get my son to pick up a comic book, but he's watched nearly every available episode of Marvel cartoons on Netflix. This looks fun.

Never underestimate the power of Quality toons. You can amuse, and sell toys. Or, you can do all that plus... entertain, engage, inspire, and ultimately endure. My kids watch these new marvel shows w me with a groan or shrug (except for my 5yo who's crazy for Spider-Man at the moment and likes ultimate Spider-Man). They might chuckle at points but mostly they regard em with a meh. If they didn't run off to do something else in the middle of it. However; though neither of my boys really care for batman at all (to my great disappointment lol), they'll both stop and watch batman beyond or justice league etc. whether they wanted to or not. it grabs their attention. They ask questions, and they talk about it after.
One things for sure IMO though, none of our kids are likely to remember any of these particular toons a month from now let alone in years to come.
My point was that middle aged men are not the audience for things such as these. They're intended for kids. My son (10) eats these shows up. He doesn't play the superhero games, read the superhero books, and is still a little too young to watch the superhero movies, but he'll watch these cartoons. As a dad, I'm happy he has some interest. If this is the entry he needs, then so be it. When he's ready to dive deeper into the spandex world, I'll have plenty of long boxes full of books to share with him.
I just get tired of older gents bemoaning offerings of which they are not the intended audience. Sure, we have the opportunity to enjoy them too, but just because you don't like it--for whatever reason--or because it's not up to your standard of quality, doesn't mean that the intended audience won't eat it up and actually enjoy it. It also doesn't mean it's bad. It just means it's not a flavor you want.
Kindve missed my point a bit, but whatever. I like animation. I like super heroes and comics and GotG. I'll happily give this a try and hope it's good. Not just by MY standards, but on all fronts.
The Guardians Of The Galaxy animated series airing from the end of September on Disney XD. Bleeding Cool has learned that actual hit music tracks from the seventies have been licensed for use in individual episodes, giving each show a recognizable musical identity, and tying the look and feel back into the movie in a rather audible and unexpected way.Which means, yes, when watching the Guardians Of The Galaxy cartoon, you will definitely be hooked on a feeling.

Nice. Has a definite anime vibe (or Battle of the Planets flavor).
They're going to release an actual OFFICIAL cassette version of the soundtrack. SIGN ME UP!!! (story here)
On another note, GotG, with a $733M box office, is now the 3rd highest grossing Marvel Film of all-time, trailing only The Avengers and Iron Man 3.

Knew that was just an early test run!

But there was a top shelf quality to Avengers: EMH that hasn't been matched in a while. Wide appeal.
