I'm all for mindless popcorn movies. I love most of Michael bay's films. But battleship is the wrong kind of dreck. No script. They filmed the ending several times. Throwing scads of money at good actors to gain cred. It was due more than a year ago. It's been in post for more than a year!
I too enjoy a good mindless popcorn flick sometimes. But Battleship looks to be all flash no substance. I am more excited about the Asylum's American Battleship that is airing the Saturday after Battleship premieres. From what I heard American Battleship even has the line "They SANK MY BATTLESHIP!" in it.

I didn't know any of that, but overall I agree with you. I love mindless popcorn movies when they're done right. To me, what made Battleship such a good movie to poke fun at was the fact that it's based on the game Battleship despite having nothing to do with that game and despite the fact that basing a movie on the game Battleship is a bizarre idea to begin with. If it was just released as is, but with a different name, I think it might have actually made a bit more money than with the Battleship name because most people I've talked to (offline at least) think it's ridiculous without even knowing anything about the movie. I actually thought some of the trailers looked kinda cool, but I couldn't get past the whole Battleship thing.

Actually, it's "Let's sink this Battleship!"
Also, Hasbro forced them to change the name to American WARSHIP.

I watched about half of American WARSHIP Saturday night. Wasn't bad for a SYFY original film.

We have a voice cast for The Dark Knight Returns.

Peter Weller (Robocop) will star as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Modern Family’s middle child Ariel Winter will play Robin.

Warners and DC are splitting up the adaptation of the dense four-part graphic novel into two animated features titled Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 and Part 2. The first movie, which will be released under the DC Comics Premiere Movie brand, will hit shelves in the fall. Part 2 will be released in early 2013.

Also in the cast are David Selby, the veteran actor who starred in the original Dark Shadows soap opera as well as the classic 1980s soap Falcon Crest; Wade Williams (Prison Break) as Harvey Dent/Two-Face; and Michael McKean as Dr. Wolper, the psychiatrist who releases the Joker from the insane asylum.

Oh crap on a stick. G.I. Joe: Retaliation won't be coming out until March 2013 so they can 3D-ize it.

They should add some dimension to some of those characters, while they're at it. :)

Not that surprised the reviews I have seen haven't been good. I figured I would wait on DVD to see it.

I liked the first one. Despite it having Will Smith in it. But the second one I didn't like at all.

Loved the first one. Wasn't crazy about the second.

I feel like the Men in Black cartoon spoiled me.

If you're not a Will Smith fan, don't waste your time. He carries the whole movie.

    Also.

If you're not a Will Smith fan, what the heck's wrong with you? He's the Most Likeable Man in America! B-)

Will smith is an overexposed overrated performer who attempts to act. I won't even call him an actor. Acting is the opposite of what will smith does. He is a charming person which reflects in characters he portrays that are closest to him.
    That said
I hated the first two mibs. Have no interest to see 3.
I looooved that cartoon though. So good.

Seeing your post under the trailer for "Django Unchained", a film that Will Smith turned down, only drives your point home even more.

He's a likable guy who almost never challenges himself when choosing roles.
