Bill Simmons interviewed 2 of my favorite former NBA players Bob Petit (former legend that won a championship with the St. Louis Hawks, now ATL Hawks, against Bill Russel's Celtics) and George "The Iceman" Gervin (former ABA/NBA legend of the San Antone Spurs). I love the NBA and the ABA mystique.
Happy Pi Day everyone. I made this video back in 2010, and I'm simply too lazy to rework it for 2014. Despite the Star Wars' homage, George Lucas I'm not. In any event, the spirit of the video is retained, even if the date is wrong (for that matter, so is the math).
That's sad. About 15 years ago, The local PBS station had that show. I enjoyed it. I have to admit though. I thought the ladies were in their mid 60's back then.
Just saw some teaser art for The Rock as Hercules.
I like The Rock, I really do, but whenever I see him, I think of him as his character from "Be Cool"* playing The Rock, playing whoever it is he's supposed to be.
*He really was the only good thing about "Be Cool".
I remember watching the rock in the first Mummy movie he did. We got there late and the only seats were in the front or second row. we choose row 1 (you can stretch out). All I wanted to see was a 20 foot tall Rock turn a Mummy into dust with a spine buster.
Alas I remember 3 things about that movie. 1) sat on the front row 2) one of the guys pronouncing "Usually we have to get here early for these seats" 3) saw two days later with another group of friends (out voted) from decent seats.
Got a part time job at my son's high school, my own alma mater. Almost 30 years after my own time in the halls. I will spare you the obvious observation of time's ravages but what I did notice is the amount of LGBT teens in the hallway. One kid who I've known in my son's class since kindergarten is full blown transvestite. Boys holding hands, girls holding hands, both kissing as they part ways. It blows my mind that never once do I hear "fag" or "homo" or worse. While I'm sure it happens, my son says it barely gets mentioned. He also scolds me when I say ignorant stuff like "faggot" as a general insult. I believe I'm fairly open minded and in the big city where I work, I've accepted that lifestyle without blinking an eye but I never thought it would be so acceptable in high school like it seems to be. I'm not niave and I'm sure ugly things still get said but I'm glad my children's generation is more enlightened than me.

Billy Dee Williams on DWTS, doing the "cha cha" to the SW theme.
Really?
Just cringeworthy.

"Ain't no Samoan faggot going by the name of Elliot Wilhelm is gonna make it to the big screen! Raising a goddamn eyebrow."
Look at that raised eyebrow!
