Like the trade thread I am just curious about the best single issue people have read this week.
Mine is kind of a surprise. A few months back I was at a local indoor flea market and saw a booth with a nice stack of comics. Most of the stuff was mid 90s drek. But I did find about 18 comics I did want. The vendor wanted either a buck a comic or 20 comics for 10 bucks. So I figured I might as well pick out 2 more comics to get them for cheaper. Well for some reason I grabbed "Youngblood Super Special" #1 from Maximum Press. Now I know what you are thinking " Has Dubba T lost his mind, picking a Youngblood comic as the best single issue he has read this week?" And really I didn't expect the comic to be worth a shit at all. But turns out it is the best Youngblood comic I have read so far. Written by Eric Stephenson, pencils by Chris Sprouse and inks by Al Gordon and Danny Miki. This issue is about a training mission were a few members of Youngblood are out with some members of their training group doing some teamwork exercises. And it turns out to be a well written super hero team story. Plus the Sprouse artwork has to be the best artwork I have ever seen in an issue of Youngblood. Really the only thing that could make this issue better is a cover of pin up by Chap Yaep.
So I ask my fellow CGS fans,What is the best single issue you have read this week?

Coming right after the 2 issue "origin" of Tulip,we get a great story that is mainly Jesse traveling the backroads in his truck adn picking up hitchhikers. My favorite part is when he picks up the former pornstar and you find out why the guy isn't in the porn film industry any more. "Frying silicon. God forgive me. I'm never gonna forget that smell." That line is still the funniest thing I have ever read in a Big 2 comic book.
great read, continuing to build out the Saga-verse. Not as great as #1, but still really good (though it felt short, like 20 pages)... If this thing goes 60 issues its gonna (hopefully) feel like a Star Wars type epic that really should be made into a movie.
This has hit my sweet spot. I like the art, and the conecpt right of the bat has me hooked.
And yeah, I like Dragonwing a lot now, after her feature story. I look forward to getting to know the other newbies as well.
For me it was probably Resdent Alien #0 although I had already read it in the Dark Horse Presents. TMNT Leonardo was good. Batman again I can't give it to, the backup was just an ad and it was all setup.

Great team up between Superman and Swamp thing. Plus it is written by Alan moore. I have never been a Superman fan. But there is 3 Superman stories I love. All 3 are written by Mr Moore. If you haven't read this issue find a copy and read it now. I know it is in the Alan Moore DC universe trade.PLus in the greatest team up stories ever told trade.
Classics Illustrated #15 Uncle Tom's Cabin- I have never read the novel this comic is based on. But have heard about it for years. Turns out the story isn't bad ,but it is the amazing artwork that makes this such a great comic. I really wish that somewhere in the book it told me who the artist and inker is.
Classics Illustrated #144 The First ment in the Moon by H. G. Wells-I know I read this novel years ago when I was a kid.But I don't remember anything about it. But this adaptaion is a fun pulpy science fiction story. Sadly this is another issue that has great artwork but the artist and inker aren't credited.
I hope the other 50 odd issues I got of CI are as good as these two. I think I will read Jules verne Journey to the center of the Earth next.
4 great stories ,one which has Sergio artwork. Plus a great superhero parody story starring 4 versions of Bart.
Absolutely brilliant. Breaks the fourth wall in an effective way...you're drawn into a world that isn't fully explained to you, and you almost hate to leave it when you go.
I recently bought the latest Grimjack (the Manx Cat) trade on Amazon, read it, loved it, and had a need to go back and check out my original issues. And it did not disappoint. It's written by John Ostrander with art from Tim Truman, and it's such a good book. John Gaunt, aka Grimjack, is a mercenary in the city of Cynosure, which is a nexus for every dimension as they overlap and move in and out of the city according to their laws. This meant that one part of the city could have magic, the other part a futuristic milieu, that one a world where the animals are sentient. It provided limitless possibilities and Ostrander and Truman (along with other artists who followed) really created a lasting comic that holds up well today. Well worth checking out.

I love that series. Managed to get a complete run of it outta the cheap bins about a decade ago.

(signed and numbered ed. #75/100)
I picked this up while at attending today's Big Wow Comicfest in Downtown San Jose, CA.
The Cartoon Art Museum was selling the regular edition for $20.00 and the singed and numbered edition for $40.00. I had the pleasure of meeting Gene at WonderCon a few years back, and I figured now that he's gone, I probably won't get very many opportunities to add an autographed Colan book to my collection. The 48 page b/w book is teeming with original artwork scans and Gene Colan commentary by some of the biggest names in the industry.
