When Weisinger returned to DC after WWII, Ellsworth was the editorial director and Jack Schiff was kept on as an editor. Weisinger and Schiff were basically switching off on editing the Batman and Superman books. Ellsworth began his move to Hollywood around 1950, leaving the editors increasingly up to their own devices. Ellsworth brought Weisinger in as story editor for the TV show, so Weisinger would go to Hollywood for a few weeks each year, but was able to keep his editorial duties.
As for the comics, by 1952 Ellsworth was in Hollywood nearly full-time, so Irwin Donenfeld was named editorial director. There was no real consistency of which editors did what until 1953, when DC went to the editorial group format they still use today. That’s when Weisinger was more or less put in charge of Superman. Donenfeld (and to a lesser extent Ellsworth) was nominally in charge, and Ellsworth insisted that the Superman comics not get to far afield of the TV show while it was in production, but otherwise Weisinger got to do pretty much what he wanted (within certain guidelines) with the line from 1953 on.
That helps clear things up a lot. Thanks for the info!
Yesterday was Star Trek's 47th Anniversary. I posted an image to my tumblr. site to commemorate the event. I would later learn that George Takei had re-blogged it on his Facebook page. (Oh, my!)
I've been relistening to Tom vs. the JLA and last night I finally got to Detroit. Which brought an amazing chain of thoughts to me. All of them circling around the question: Remember when Rios was Puerto Rican?
It's flooding here in the Denver, CO area today. They're calling it a 100 year old flood for Boulder. There's whole mountain towns "cut off" from the rest of Front Range as roads are washed out and now gone. Below is a link to local news where one boy catches a large carp on his way home from school in the street. In. the. street. Snow days are a regular thing here in the winter, but never have we had a flood day.
I am in Colorado Springs, and we have a couple severe burn scar areas that flood out with just a little rain. It had been raining here in varying degrees of severity for at least 14 hours. And i blame Dido too.
This is around 64th & Holly St. in Commerce City. What your looking at is the old Mile High Kennel Club site. Covered by water is a retention pond that runs a couple of blocks from North to South 50 ft past the fence shown, and is probably 20ft. at it's deepest point.
Got iOS 7 on my iPhone 4 and it's really nice looking. Unfortunately, all of the advanced features don't show up. I'll have to upgrade to an iPhone 5 model for that much fun.
So, my wife just sold a car to Scott Snyder... That just happened.
A Scott Snyder or the Scott Snyder?
On an unrelated note... iOS 7 today!
THE Scott Snyder... she texted me as soon as she had run his financials and saw his work history. Another salesperson freaked out. He semi-regularly pops into my LCS too, but this was a total non-comics related close encounter.

That's really cool! Hey, I helped pay for that car!!
On this date one-hundred and twenty-four years ago, Nintendo (then Nintendo Koppai) was founded. The video game giant that we know today, began as a card game company in 1889. (For more details, visit my tumblr. site).
Not all their products and services were as successful as their cards and video games. Take, for instance, Nintendo's foray into the cab business. Or even crazier was the Nintendo Love Hotel (a chain of hotels (often windowless intended for all those illicit encounters - I kid you not.) And who can forget the Nintendo Love Tester (1968), a device designed to measure a couple's compatibility?
I watched Agents of SHIELD last night...Did anyone else have problems hearing the episode, or is it just my TV?
I didn't have problems hearing it, but I did notice that the commercials were much louder than the show. I thought there were regulations against that now?

Best work I've ever seen from Liefeld.
Seriously.
