The Star Wars (first movie) Soundtrack was played pretty much daily in our home. Along with the Ralph Bakshi Lord of the Rings soundtrack if anyone here remembers that one.
I always felt fortunate in my musical upbringing. I've mentioned my two older sisters and how they read comics and they're pretty much THE reason I'm the fanboy I am today. What was equally fun was their musical tastes - one was into disco, folk, easy listening, and the like while the other was into Zeppelin, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, etc. From them I figured out early on pigeonholing myself to one band, one genre, etc. was a waste of time. It was (and is) perfectly acceptable to me to jump from KISS to Lionel Richie to Motorhead to Garth Brooks to The Clash.
I heard Bob Mould's first solo album before I heard Husker Du, and immediately backtracked through their catalog. Listening to Mould and Husker sent me off in a very different direction in my overall music buying/listening.
The only thing standing in your way is... yourself.
I know. I know. But for whatever reason, even though they have all the elements I love in a rock band, I have never gotten into them. They are like a tomato for my taste in music, they look like they should be perfect and an awesome, but they taste like a tomato. I keep trying them time to time and figure one day I'll get it.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. I like the slow grind/dirty groove they have going on.
If I remember right one of their songs was used in the first season of Bones, it may have been another series but anyways, after hearing it there I had to find more. Been a fan ever since.

It is the closest anyone will ever come to perfection. Every one of those songs are awesome.
Now I'm trying to come up with the perfect country album, but the standard isn't what is a great album, but near perfection.
Rap I've got some ideas, but I really need to sit down and think/listen.
